I am having significant trouble installing some monitoring for a DL360 Gen10 with iLO 5. Previously we would install the HP Insight Manager and the other tools such as:
But now, I only seem to be able to install the System Management Homepage, and get access to some basic information but can not for the life of me see how to access the Event Notifier etc.
Reading in the System Management Homepage that I require HP Insight Foundation, but can't find where to download that either.
Ultimately we are trying to configure, as we always have, a method to send an email notification for when the RAID volume has an error/failed disk.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Hi,
Please use this URL to look up the warranty information for your servers, based on serial number:
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/wc/public/home
You should then be able to infer the age of your server based on the warranty start date.

Hi, I am hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction. We have inherited HP SIM 7.02, we have a number of servers configured and are receiving alerts. I believe it configured via SNMP
The question is that if we received an email alert say foundation agent it is sending to an email distribution group and an ex employee email which no longer exist.
I am trying to find out how we can change the address. I looked at auto event handling but could not see anything there.
I then logged into one of server that reported the foundation alert and found a program called event notifier, on this particular server logged in and ran the application then ran through the wizard it did show the email address but I am.not sure if this right as this seems to say that we have to configure this on a per server basis. Wondering if there is any setting in HP SIM that would apply to all servers.
Thanks in advance
Hi Khalil,
The event notifier and SIM email trigger are two different things.
As it is confirmed that SIM is receiving all alerts through SNMP, those can be forwarded from SIM to the desired email address. Whenever an alert is received in SIM, it can be forwarded via Automatic Event Handling.
In AEH, you can create a new task to trigger the email to desired email address.
By setting the AEH in SIM, it won't make any changes to event notifier.
You can also refer to HPE SIM User Guide for more insights. Hope this helps.
The SIM version 7.0 which is being used is End of Support Life a long back ago. We recommend to upgrade to the latest version of SIM 7.6 with latest hotfixes.

Hi all,
I am the lucky guy who is assigned to migrate our current HPSim 7.6 server from Windows server 2008 R2 to a new 2016 server. This new server also is joined to a different domain.
I am wondering how to complete this migration. From what I have read in the documentation the two servers for the migration must be in the same domain. Is this really true?
Little scetch of the situation. We monitor around 200 servers (all HP) from our customers locations over site-to-site VPN tunnels. So servers which are monitored are not in the same domain and are being scanned over both WBEM and SNMP.
Is the correct approach to install / configure a new Windows server with HP SIM 7.6 and SQL server and use the mxexport / mximport tool to migrate the data or is this too easy and am I missing a few steps?
Hope to hear from you!
Afternoon all.
I have been tasked with Migrating my current 7.6 Sim install running on 2008 to Windows 2019.
I've seen that LR4 is the only version of SIm that runs on 2019 and I have setup a test VM and tried the LR4 upgrade and it hangs at the following point :
How do I fix this failure?
Hi Andrew,
It seems there is quite confusion for managed server and management server.
SIM 7.6 LR4 supports Windows Server 2019 as managed system OS.
For installing LR4 update on the system, the HPE SIM application must be installed on supported OS.
Were you able to install HPE SIM 7.6 on Windows Server 2019? If yes, then we need to further check why it is not freezing while applying the LR4 update.
LR4 is update only package and cannot be installed on baremetal OS like HPE SIM.
For more details, you can refer HPE Insight Management 7.6 LimitedRelease 4 Support Matrix and HPE Systems Insight Manager 7.6 LimitedRelease 4 Release Notes.
As per the release notes or support matrix, the CMS supported OS is Windows Server 2016.
Windows Server 2019 is not yet marked as supported OS for management server i.e. CMS.
If there are any doubts, please reply back and we will try to figure out the solution.

KK
Hi Andrew,
Let us know if there is any confusion or if you have any further doubts for SIM 7.6 installation.
Regards,
KK
Thanks for confirming this.
I have been able to install 7.6 including the hotfix on a 2016 server so will proceed with that.
Thanks allot for your help
Hi all,
Apologies for the newbie question, I've been tasked with trying to migrate as much hardware as possible onto the newer OneView system.
I can see a list of all servers within the SIM system, however i'd like to extract this out into excel format to be able to sort through items that are suitable for migrating.
What's the best way of going about this?
Thanks!
Hello there,
Are your systems (servers)of type Gen8 or higher ? When only export de ILO's.
If you have enclosures export the Onboard administrators. If you like you can select management processors, this will select both. If you have older systems like G7 and older then you need to create a collection for all servers that are not of Type Gen, this will show all older systems than Gen8. Do you know how to create collections ?
Hi
Thanks for the response.
Our systems aren't all of Gen8 or higher, this is a fairly old system and I can see we have G1's, G6's, G7'S, iLO & the odd Gen8 & Gen 9s.
We do have a few enclosures set up, but i don't beleive that all of our systems have been added to enclosures.
I can create a collection for systems older than Gen8 if that is of benefit.
Thanks,
Jake
hi again,
You can create collections for the Management processors, this collection can then be used to create a report for export to a csv. This csv can then be used to upload information to Oneview. Be aware the Oneview only realy works with the Gen8 and above servers that have ILO4 or higher.
Hi,
we have a solution with 5 servers ProLiant DL160 Gen9 - Windows 2012 and 5 servers ia64 hp Integrity rx2800 i4 HP-UX, all managed by a central HP - SIM 7.6 installed on a HP-UX based CMS. Windows servers and HPUX servers have identical hardware configurations between them.
The page "Tools & Links", section "System Web Application Pages" have some incoherence:
- it displays multiple "IIS Windows Server" links(for Proliant servers) and multiple "HPE ILO Login "(for Integrity servers) links pointing to the same adress . Why? (see attached pictures)
- for ILO systems, it displays links that doesn't work , like "HP Web Jetadmin", "OSM Event Viewer"(see picture). Why?
- for some servers, the section "System Web application pages" doesn't exist...Why?
Can you help us to clarify if this section can be customized or it is populated by HP SIM software based on some settings?
Thank you very much!
Simona
PS: I wanted to attach pictures but it seems that I can't . How can I attach them?
Hi SimonaS,
DL160 Gen9 and rx2800 i4 cannot have identical hardware configuration. These are two different hardware platforms.
Unless we have any photos/images where being pointed, we cannot proceed further. Please see the image below for attaching an image/photo to this post.
The image below is attached same way as described in it.
Please clarify and point out in the images about the issue and expectation.
Hi,
thank you for the answer!
First I should clarify what I meant by "identical hardware configuration": all DL160 Gen9 servers have identical hardware config and all rx2800 i4 servers have identical hadware config.
I tried to use the "insert/edit image" buton in my first post, but it doesn't offer the browsing possibility, and when inserting the path to the picture file by hand, the picture is not inserted into the post. I try again now:
Hi,
I am experimenting with Hyper-V on some quite old Proliant severs and have a fundamental question that I'd appreciate some help with please . . . .
Using Hyper-V 2012R2, I can either install the hypervisor "bare metal", or by adding it as a role on Server 2012R2. There are probably pros and cons with both, but I think that the hypervisor overhead will be smaller if I install it "bare metal" with no GUI.
The question that I have is what does this mean for the HP Management tools, such as array and hardware diagnostics?
Am I better installing the HP Proliant Support Pack tools on each VM, and would they actually be safe to use on a VM basis?
Or is it better to install Hyper-V as a role and install the PSP on the same instance of Windows, then just ignore the PSP tools in the individual VMs?
Or, are the PSP tools best not used in virtualised systems anyway?
regards
Dave
