So I'm pretty sure that the problem is the configuration of the trap setting on the linux server,
Is there some documentery how to configure traps on linux servers ?
I have tried to use the sim tools , like repair and install agents, but they won't work - guess the hpsim is not update for this version of linux server.

I'm testing to use SNMP V3 for ILO4. This seems to work with a combination of SHA & AES authentication but when i discover the ILO the OS remains a Serial. If i reenable the SNMP community, delete the server and ILo and run a rediscover the server name is discovered OK.
So my conclusion is that if i want the server name i still need SNMP V1 ? Is that correct ? Also if i disable V1 traps the SIM server no longer receives test traps. So when i disable SNMP traps V1 i no longer receive hardware error traps ?
You will want to install the "Agentless Management Service" in your OS. The AMS communicates details such as the OS hostname to the iLO.

The server has AMS, AMS info is passed when SNMP V1 is active but as soon as i disable V1 the server reverts to a serial and no AMS info is passed by the datacollection. It seems that AMS does not work correct with SNMP V3. Do you have a ILO4 server working with SNMP V3? So do you have your servers name and firmware and driver info ?

Was the SIM an upgrade or fresh install? And what version of the System Management Homepage do you use ?
Is the SQL local or ar remote and what version ?

As read from the above posts you need Windows local admin account. So there is nothing to retrieve. Is your server Windows, Linux or ESX ?
When I tried to doing updated using HP SUM
