Hi. Currently using HP SIM 7.2 on SQL 2008 R2 SP3. Want to update to 7.5. Will it work on this version of SQL as I only see 2012 and 2014 in the release notes? Thanks
Thanks Andrew
What happens to the existing SQL database if I use SQL light version packed with the installer? Will I have to start all over again with discoveries etc etc?
Is the current sql also on the SIM server and was it a part of the initial SIM setup or is this a seperate full or express installation of SQL?
If you update an existing setup you will keep the content of the database. If you switch from a remote 2008 SQL to a local express bundeld with the 7.5 SIM package you could try to import the database to the new SQL but re running the discovery should not be a big challenge.
If you would like to leave the data intact you would need to move the database first and then reconfigure SIM to use the new database location and then run the 7.5 update. If you need more info on the reconfigure tool let me know.
Hi
For a server wedo not useall physical network ports.TheNICsmust be disabledso that noerrorintheSMHconsole. In aWindows Server2012r2 doesn't work.Thestatus is always"LinkFailure"
HP DL360 Gem8
HP System Management Homepage Version is v7.5.2.4
Any ideas?
Just wanted to bump my own thing. I stil got this problem - 3rd month now - really frustrating.
The HP Version Control Repository manager cannot be connected. It's validating the catalog all the time.
The most frustrating thing is that there is no extended logging. There are no usefull logs in the System Log, Application Log. The Log of VCRM only shows "catalog vlaidation started" - nothing more.
What a **bleep**ty software ! Beware !
Hello,
if a NIC is enabled but there is no link SIM and SMH marks this as a failure. So either you can either disable the adapter from the OS or BIOS is the only option not to get an error. The main reason for this is when you have teaming enabled to see teaming errors. It's not realy a hardware error but an enabled NIC with no cable could be a problem.
I don't think HP is going to this for you as they want you to use HP SUM. I've got 10 VCRM/SIM servers, none with this problem so i think it's either a specific SPP problem or an external program that's causing the problem but without proper logging you can never be sure. The only use for the VCRM is to compare installed software to a baseline rather then deployment. They've got HP SUM for that. You can also use Oneview if you don't have legacy hardware.
Just for replacing SIM for Oneview there are no licences required.
Hi Andrew
Thanks for reply.
There are 4 NICs and only one is patched. The unpatched NICs are disabled in Windows OS.
Also 1 NIC active and 3 NICs disabled. For the disabled NICs status is always"LinkFailure" in HP System Management Homepage Version is v7.5.2.4
Kind regards.
erki
can some one share the download link for HP SMH software for Win2K3 Itanium 64 platform?
Of course...
