Hi Bajpai

I try it,

I can login Vcenter by viclient,

Can the vCenter can be a vmguest?

Insight 7.3 Upgrade - Service authentication issues..

0

Greetings,

I am trying to test the upgrade process for Insight Control, using the install DVD and the integrated installer.  Shortly after selecting the components to update (I leave it as default), it asks for a password for the service account.  After putting in the proper password, I simply get an error that the installer is unable to verify service account credentials.

I am logged in with the same account used to install SIM/IC and the same account the most of the SIM/IC services run under and verified the password.  SIM works fine otherwise - no issues connecting to the DB or adding/removing items.

Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks!

Please find the document attched for configuring 3PAR CIMOM.

After the cimom is configured, discover the device in HPSIM using the IP Address.

Hi,

I have written a blog article on the steps on the 3PAR to enable monitoring inside HP SIM. I had to do this for several customers, works fine...

vCenter can be installed on a VM but not on CMS. Check for the vCenter node having below given attributes:

1) OS Name

2) UUID

if above listed attributes found then try the following below, otherwise delete the node and discover again.

1.     On command prompt change the directory to “C:\Program Files\HP\Insight Control virtual machine management\clientapi\bin (file:///C:/Program%20Files/HP/Insight%20Control%20virtual%20machine%20management/clientapi/bin)>”

2.     Execute command "adminlogin.cmd "
3.     Execute cli "getRegisteredVE –VELayer VMware" (This command will result all the registered VCenters with vmm)

if the node is found here, please run 4.
4.     Execute cli "unregisterVME –VELayer VMware –host <ipaddress of the phantom VCenter ip, this should be there in the registeredVME list>"

Now try again to register.

WBEM Agents ... two problems

0
0

I am trying to use the WBEM agents to monitor/manage physical servers running Windows 2012.  I have two problems:

1) SIM is not updating the status of the managed node after the node is fixed for a given problem.  For example, if the node has 3 NICs unplugged, SIM shows and error as does the SMH.  If I disable the NICs in the OS, SMH clears up as expected but SIM never updates.  It still shows an orange status indicator.  Other servers, running classic SNMP agents, do not have this problem.  SIM updates the status once a problem is resolved.

2) Subscribe to WBEM Events fails.  I get this error:

FAILED to create indication subscription.

Cause: Subscriptions are not supported

Recommended Action: Install the HP WBEM providers, if already installed re-identify the node and try to subscribe again.

I do have the WBEM providers installed, and everything is properly identified in SIM indicating WBEM is working correctly.  Management Protocols shows WBEM is setup:

Management Protocols HTTP:1.0, WBEM:1.0, SMH:7.2.2.9

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks

Nelson

I solved my first problem.  WBEM was unchecked in the "Hardware Status Polling" job.

I had to give the account used to do WBEM discovery in SIM, admin rights to the managed node in order for WBEM subscriptions to work.

Does anyone know if there is a way to subscribe to WBEM events with using an account that has local Admin permissions?  This is for Win2012 R2.

Thanks

Nelson

WBEM Polling is working, but No Events/alerts are being created/emailed on monitored VM Host

First let me start by saying I'm totally green when it comes to SIM.  I have it installed on a Windows server for the sole purpose of monitoring some of the critical hardware components like power supplies and hard drives etc.  on my VMware esxi 5.5.0 servers.

I have SIM running.. I have the WMI Mapper Proxy running.

SIM discovered both the ILO and the VM host, as well as the vm machines running on the host, and when it did i did get email notification of those events.

I ran through the subscribe WBEM events which reported it was succesful.  I believe I have all the required hp offline packages installed on the VM Host.

under the mangement protocols on the host I does show WBEM
WBEM:1.0, SSH:SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.6

When I pull a power supply, the Health status eventually updates with a minor failure but at no point does the even show up in the events section and of course I also do not get notified by email.

I have restarted both the SIM server, as well as the VM Host several times, I have deleted and rediscovered the box a couple of times.

after a couple of days beating my head against the desk I'm at a loss.  Does anyone have any suggestions/ideas.  Is this something that is a normal stupid newbie mistake ?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Dave

Hi Bajpai

I found the attribute in cms has OS Name and UUID

but when I run the cli ,

I can run the [cli getRegisteredVE –VELayer VMware],

it show me [ok] (I don't sure that's mean the node is been found)

but when I run the [cli unregisterVME –VELayer VMware –host 192.168.0.80]

it show me error [Unrecognized Option: -VELayer]

Is something wrong ?

Thanks!

Your ESXi firewall blocks the WBEM indication to your SIM server. Enable the NFS client rule or build your own rule and it should work.

Enabled NFS Client (which just for detailed sake is a tcp from any 0-65535), and retested, unfortunetly still the same condition.  I see the failure after a period of time in the System Health in SIM , but not in events for that host.and thus no emails and such.

Hello Nelson,

You can also use an other account for your WMI/WBEM discovery and subscriptions. You have to set the folloing:

To enable remote access of the Insight Providers through WMI for non-administrator user accounts:

1. Add the standard user account to the Distributed COM Users group.

2. For the following namespaces, add the standard user account to namespace security:

o root\HPQ

o root\HPQ\default

o root\HPQ\TestEvent

o root\Interop

o root\CIMv2

3. To add the standard user account to namespace security, complete the following steps for each name space:

a. Right-click My Computer > Manage > Services and Applications.

b. Right-click WMI Control.

c. Click Properties.

d. Select the Security tab.

e. Select the namespace.

f. Click the Security button. For the standard user, verify that permissions are set as follows:

— Execute Methods

— Full Write

— Partial Write

— Provider Write

— Enable Account

— Remote Enable

— Read Security

— Edit Security

You need provider write to set the subscription.

Kind regards,

Andrew

Hello there,

Do you get any events from the others servers ? Could it be that the Firewall on your SIM server is blocking the WBEM traps ?

Kind regards,

Andrew

If it is to long ago that you started with your test the ESXi WBEMProvider stack is blocked. Or even worse the CIMMON  Server service failed. I would try to restart (better use stop and afterwards start) the service and check inside SIM on the system page of the esxi host if you can access the WBEM information. You should see NIC Memory Storage information. It takes a certain time until the WBEM information is read from the CIMMON on the ESXi.

I would also check if the subscription still exists. If you use Insight Remote Support it could happen that a time filter blocks your event.

Good imput from Andrew if you want to see the WBEM indication inside SIM and you have no IRS installed your pegasus WMI Mapper Indication Service  should run which is used for receiving the WBEM Indication for SIM. Sometimes a problem if you used a doamin admin for installation. If the service are not startable try to set the service login account to the user you used for installation.
